I pulled this video clip out of the archives, so the audio is a bit rough, but the content is very applicable.
I have been guilty in the past of taking athletes who were injured and considered non-weightbearing and limiting their exercises and the variety of things that they can do. It gets really easy to say to them and yourself “until they’re off crutches, there’s not much we can do.” In reality, there are a TON of things that you can do. From soft tissue work, to neurological develpment, to fitness training; using some alternative methods to keep your athletes active and developing will pay valuable dividends later on. If for no other reason than to keep your athletes mentally engaged and interested about the early states of rehab.
This is part 1 of a series on using the TRX Suspension Trainer to expand your exercise library and get your athlete’s rehab started on the right foot.
