We need stability in just about every moving moment of our lives. Unfortunately, many people don’t possess a lot of stability or don’t know how or when to turn it off and on. I train lower extremity stability with my healthy athletes almost to the point of nausea in an effort to prevent injuries (and it has worked very well for us). I also use simplified versions with my injured athletes as part of their rehab programming. I’m always looking for new ideas and patterns to challenge my athletes and patients, so when I saw this from my fellow DVRT Master Instructor Larissa, I was hooked.
It is simple, yet very challenging. And, the great part about it is that you can adjust it as needed to challenge your athlete or client. You can just teach parts of it to challenge a rehab patient, or you can add to it a number of different layers to challenge even your best athletes. You can also play with the volume to challenge people in different components of their training. The options are limitless. Play with it and have fun!!
