The Romanian Deadlift (RDL) is a great exercise for teaching the hip hinge. Without a doubt, it is a can’t miss exercise for training athletes. The single leg version is even better for a number of reasons, but it is also a very difficult exercise to teach correctly. Once they can master the Single Leg RDL, adding the deadstart to it adds a whole other component to make it better and more complex.
It is difficult, but worth it for the right athlete.
