Metabolic fitness is one of, if not the most important part of training the high level athlete. Conditioning for athletes is no longer a case of running a few laps, or punishing someone until they puke. Metabolic training has evolved a great deal over the past decade to include a number of training modalities and techniques.
You have also seen fitness and conditioning change with the rise of popular organizations such as Crossfit. For the general population, running on a treadmill or elliptical is no longer seen as the best means of burning calories.
In today’s video, we discuss how to use several different training implements in a circuit to not only create a stronger and more stable athlete, but to place a large neurological and metabolic load on your athlete. Keep in mind that while this is a fitness based workout, good movement quality must be maintained throughout the process.
